Rob Zombie is a Nice Unicorn Free Hugs Just Kidding Don’t Touch Me Shirt student of the horror genre, and the influences of the past are layered heavily onto this. But those influences bump together in a noisy disjointed mess of ideas – the unhinged glee of it all seems appealing to a lot of reviews here, but I wasn’t impressed with spectacle for spectacle sake. Some of the plots simply doesn’t make sense, especially most of the reveals in the third act. This film also can’t be bothered to linger on anything to build tension or to employ subtly in any way. It’s a blowhorn the entire time, riffing on things that have been done better in other films.

I’ve seen a Nice Unicorn Free Hugs Just Kidding Don’t Touch Me Shirts lot worse in this genre. Hardly a ringing endorsement, but it’s all I can muster for a movie that a lot of folks seem to enjoy more than I did. This movie is a classic. The sequel, devils rejects, is pretty good too but not quite as good. Also… Rainn Wilson! It wasn’t for me. The last 45 minutes felt like walking through a haunted house where we were just shown random scary things. Some people really like this movie but I need a little more plot. This shit was posted here less than a week ago. Was terrible then, terrible now.
